Dub poets like Benjamin Zephaniah and Linton Kwesi Johnson permitted people like me and many others to share our words. No need for correct grammar, not familiar with the classics or the technical and academic nuances of poetry. The words that clambered to be released were no longer pushed down for fear of doing it wrong. Thanks to these renegades, today’s poetry landscape is diverse and inclusive regardless of education or class. That being said, please enjoy my fuck you to those who would judge and seek to silence me and my rough around the edges stylee.

I love your words and love their power
Equality to those who joust with grammar
And never digest its mysteries
It deserves bringing out of duality!
Me, I use commas like a pause for breath
But still get a gliff when I see
An extra, added bonus apostrophe!
I can’t help dancing in this contradiction
But, letting heart lead my words feels more real
And less fiction
Sister, your flow is inspiring me!
Language feels more like a dance
And my words feel free
Keep on sharing out your wisdom, woman
Love!💛
